Sauteed Shrimp with Green Onions

So this one my dad actually used to make one when I was little.  My mom and I couldn’t figure out how to make it for the longest time, but I discovered the trick when I was in college trying out an orange chicken recipe.  This may be the easiest recipe on this entire site, since most of the flavor comes from marinating it (by now, I think you all may realize that I usually don’t cook proteins unless they’re marinaded).  Super simple and super delicious!

Sauteed Shrimp with Green Onions
(serves 2)

8 oz shrimp
1 tbsp onions, chopped
a sprinkle of salt, pepper, and garlic powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
1/8 cup of green onions, cut into 2 inch chunks
steamed white rice, to serve

  1. Marinate shrimp with onions, salt, pepper, and garlic powder for at least 1 hour (shrimp absorb marinades much faster than meat).
  2. Heat oil in a skillet on medium-high.
  3. Dredge shrimp in flour.
  4. Saute shrimp for about 2-3 minutes.  Throw in green onions and saute for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. And you’re done!
